The heart of Wales, a diverse landscape of wild mountains and fertile river plains, dotted with friendly towns and secluded hamlets. It’s the outstanding natural beauty of the countryside that draws nature lovers, walkers and cyclists staying in Powys. The wonderfully varied terrain of the Brecon Beacons National Park is criss-crossed by ancient tracks and lanes, perfect for pony trekking, and keen walkers will head to the Offa’s Dyke long distance path.History enthusiasts will be drawn to Powis Castle, a magnificent medieval fortress towering above its famous gardens and commanding glorious views over the valley. In the Victorian spa town of Llandrindod Wells, visitors can still sample the healing waters, and book lovers will be in heaven at Hay-on-Wye’s bookstores - there are more than 30 of them to explore. • Clywedog Dam - stunning reservoir (8 miles)• Elan Valley Lakes - area of outstanding natural beauty (20 miles)• Red Kite Centre - rare birds of prey (20 miles)• Powys Castle - medieval National Trust castle (22 miles)• Aberystwyth/Aberdovey - seaside resort (40 miles)

Highly recommended! The location and accommodation were excellent, and thanks to Lloyd and Janet who provided just the right balance of care and consideration.
The llama and goat (names escape me) provided endless entertainment to my 2 children (8 and 3 years), and the sheer amount of bread one goat could munch through was astounding! This short, midweek break exceeded our expectations and we will revisit in the future! |
